A busy 12 months
It’s been a busy 12 months. Last October David recorded a DVD of the Shostakovich preludes and fugues in Budapest before heading back to teaching duties in Brussels and in the South of France.
Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the death of perhaps the greatest of Russian composers, Dmitri Shostakovitch, and David’s DVD scooped a finalist’s gong in the New York International Film Awards in August 2024.
There were also a couple of recent recitals on the French Riviera which allowed him to finish his cycle of the complete keyboard works of Bach, which he has performed in the churches and concert halls of his adoptive town of Cannes.
Concerts have also been organised elsewhere, including the complete cycle of the 24 preludes and fugues of Shostakovich at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, where David is teaching. This is scheduled for April 10.
